Few car models are as famous and respected all over the world as the Honda Civic. Having been around for almost 50 years, each new iteration has gotten gradually better, and the 2022 edition is no exception.  2022 honda civic in cincinnati, oh

Trim Levels

The 2022 Honda Civic is available in four trim levels: the LX, Sport, EX, and Touring. The standard LX trim is impressively well-equipped for a basic edition and comes with features such as 16-inch steel wheels, a 7-inch touch-screen interface, LED headlights, automatic climate control, a push-button ignition system, and a four-speaker audio system, as well as multiple smartphone integration options and advanced driver aids.  The Sport trim builds upon the standard features and adds some of its own. Its highlights include larger 18-inch alloy wheels, the ability to start the car remotely with the help of the key fob, an elegant leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, and an upgraded eight-speaker audio system. The EX trim adds even more features, such as dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, heated mirrors and front seats, and additional driver aids.  Finally, the top Touring trim has all the best features the 2022 Civic can offer. It includes all the detailing available on lower trims, plus automatic wipers, fog lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an upgraded 9-inch touch-screen interface with an integrated navigation system, power-adjustable front seats, a wireless device charging pad, additional driver aids, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system that sounds amazing.

Power and Performance

The 2022 Honda Civic comes equipped with one of two engine choices. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter that can deliver up to 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while the upgraded version is a turbocharged 1.5-liter with up to 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with a smooth-shifting continuously variable automatic transmission that’s excellently tuned to deliver the power you need. The optional turbocharged engine is not only slightly more powerful but also reaches maximum power at lower revs than the 2.0-liter one, making it easier to drive around town.  Performance-wise, 2022 Civic stays true to its reputation as a fast sedan. While the base engine can push it to a speed of 60 miles per hour from a standstill in a respectable 8.2 seconds, when it’s equipped with the turbocharged engine, it can reach the same speed in only 6.7 seconds. Besides being quick off the mark, the Civic is stable and agile when cornering, giving the impression of a much smaller and lighter car.

Interior Comfort

Sedans are known not only for their elegance and agility but also for their interior comfort. The 2022 Honda Civic scores high marks in this category as well, with a cabin that’s both comfortable and highly functional. Both rows of seats offer enough head and legroom to accommodate taller adults, while the wide-opening doors make it easy to get in and out. The narrow front pillars offer exceptional visibility while you’re driving, adding to the feeling of safety and comfort.  Other elements, besides the interior space and ease of access, contribute to a smooth and comfortable ride. The suspension strikes an outstanding balance between being stiff enough for agile handling and soft enough to cancel out most minor bumps in the road. The insulation system also helps, as it keeps most road, wind, and engine noises outside the cabin. The interior temperature is easy to set and maintain, with the climate control system effectively covering the entire cabin.

Technology

No modern car of any kind would be complete without plenty of tech features, and the 2022 Honda Civic certainly doesn’t disappoint in that department. All infotainment features are accessible via the 7-inch touch-screen interface, which you can upgrade to a 9-inch HD screen if you opt for the Touring trim. Regardless of its size, the screen is set conveniently higher than it is on other vehicles, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road while you drive. The Civic also comes standard with smartphone connectivity through Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and USB ports.

Safety Features

From a safety perspective, the 2022 Honda Civic scores high marks by having an impressive list of active safety features that can help the driver notice and avoid potential dangers in due time. Although the National Highway Safety Administration (opens in a new tab) hasn’t yet released its safety ratings for the 2022 model, the 2021 Honda Civic scored top ratings, and we have every reason to anticipate the new edition is just as safe, if not more so.  The base trim comes with plenty of useful driver aids, such as a driver attention monitor that issues an alert if it senses you’re becoming overly tired, automatic high beams, a traffic sign reader that tells you to speed limitations and other signs, a lane-keeping assist system that alerts you if the Civic drifts out of its lane, adaptive cruise control that keeps a safe distance to the car in front, and a forward collision mitigation system that warns you if a frontal impact is imminent and applies the brakes to help mitigate it.  Higher trims add even more active safety features, with the EX trim introducing a blind-spot monitor that alerts you if you have another vehicle in your blind spot. The Touring trim adds front and rear parking sensors that prevent you from bumping into various objects while backing up, a rear cross-traffic alert system that issues a warning if you’re backing up and another vehicle approaches from either side and low-speed automatic braking that automatically hits the brakes if the car is moving at less than 6 miles per hour and a collision is imminent.  Although new car types and models appear almost every year, the classic sedan’s elegance and versatility make it timeless and stylish.
