The 2022 Honda Passport is Coming Soon

If you’re planning to buy a mid-size SUV in Cincinnati, Ohio, keep an eye out for the arrival of the 2022 Honda Passport at Performance Kings Honda. This new model is expected to be largely the same as the highly successful 2021 model, but it may see some shuffling of features between trim levels and the addition of several new features. Check out this detailed guide to the 2022 Honda Passport to determine if it’s the right SUV for you.

Trim Levels and Prices Of The 2022 Honda Passport

Similar to the previous year’s model, the 2022 Honda Passport will come in four trim levels to cater to different budgets and needs. These trims include the entry-level Sport, EX-L, Touring, and the top-of-the-line Elite. While official manufacturer’s suggested retail prices haven’t been released, you can expect this SUV to have a starting price tag in the low-$30,000 range and max out in the mid-$40,000 range.

Exterior Of The 2022 Honda Passport

In terms of outward appearance, the 2022 Honda Passport should be carried over mostly unchanged. Therefore, it’ll feature the same bold and rugged styling of the 2021 model. Up front, the SUV looks tough and aggressive with a large matte black grille, distinctive angular headlamps with a chrome T-shaped trim piece, and pronounced ridges on the hood. At the rear, a raked windshield, a roof spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets contribute to a sporty appearance.

HorsePower

The new Honda Passport will also be equipped with the same engine as the outgoing model, which is a stout-yet-refined 3.5-liter V-6. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, this engine is capable of generating 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It transmits power to the front wheels or optionally all four wheels. With its punchy V-6 engine, the Passport has more than enough power to meet your daily driving needs. It can also provide a dynamic driving experience when the situation calls for it. With an impressive zero-to-60-mph time of 6.4 seconds, this SUV is one of the quickest in its class. Additionally, it has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when it’s properly equipped.

Handling

Despite its relatively bulky size, the Honda Passport is surprisingly easy to drive. Its nicely weighted steering and tight turning radius make it a cinch to maneuver in heavy traffic, parking lots, and other confined situations. Also, you and your passengers will enjoy a smooth and tranquil ride in this SUV as it does an excellent job of soaking up vibrations and jolts from uneven surfaces.  Few mid-size SUVs deliver a better balance between comfort and athleticism than the Honda Passport. With a combination of well-tuned dampers, precise steering, and strong brakes, this model is engaging to drive. It feels stable at highway speeds and demonstrates impressive agility and composure on twisty roads, making it a great road-trip vehicle. While it isn’t a true adventurer, the Passport is more than capable of handling a dirt trail or gravel path, thanks to its 8.1-inch ground clearance and Intelligent Traction Management system.

Fuel Efficiency Of The 2022 Honda Passport

With a carry-over engine, the 2022 Honda Passport should deliver the same fuel-efficiency ratings as its predecessor. The current model returns 20/25 mpg (city/highway) with front-wheel drive and 19/24 mpg with all-wheel drive.

Interior Features of the 2022 Honda Passport

The new Honda Passport will most likely have the same simple-yet-practical cabin as the previous model. The open and airy interior offers good outward visibility and features top-notch fit and finish and high-quality materials. The dashboard splits the HVAC controls and the infotainment system, making these features easier to use. The buttons, dials, and knobs are on the smaller side, but they’re clearly labeled.  Additionally, you’ll find an array of comfort and convenience features in the Passport, including a tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, remote start, and proximity keyless entry. A moon-roof is available as an option.

Seating

The 2022 Honda Passport can accommodate up to five people in two rows. Both rows of seats provide excellent support and generous legroom and headroom, so you and your passengers can expect to have a comfortable and relaxing ride. This Honda SUV comes standard with cloth seats, but you can opt for available features such as leather-trimmed seats, power-adjustable front seats, ventilated and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear outboard seats.

Cargo Space In The 2022 Honda Passport

The cargo space of the Honda Passport may vary depending on the seating configuration, but it’s generally good for its segment. If you leave the rear seats up, you’ll have up to 50.5 cubic feet of storage space. Folding down these seats will result in a cargo capacity of up to 100.8 cubic feet. Also, the SUV has an under-floor storage cabin that provides an additional 2.5 cubic feet of storage room.

Infotainment Features

In the current model year, the Honda Passport has a better selection of standard infotainment (opens in a new tab) features than many rivals. These features include an 8-inch touch-screen display, a seven-speaker sound system, a USB port, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. For enhanced connectivity and entertainment, you can get available features such as a 10-speaker audio system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, two extra USB ports, a household-style power outlet, navigation, and satellite radio. The 2022 model will likely offer the same tech features, but some of the optional features may become standard.

Safety Features In The 2022 Honda Passport

New Honda vehicles are equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistance technologies to minimize the risk of accidents, and the 2022 Honda Passport should be no exception. Depending on which trim level you choose, you may have access to advanced safety features (opens in a new tab) such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, forward-collision alert, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beams, lane-keeping assistance, road-departure mitigation, lane-departure alert, a rearview camera, rear cross-traffic warning, and parking sensors.  The 2022 Honda Passport is expected to debut in the United States in fall this year.
